Oh my goodness, I haven’t written a blog post for quite some time, and looking back on my last post I was hoping I would get better at being more consistent. Oh well, there’s always 2023. I’ll have to add writing regular blog posts to my list of New Year’s resolutions. Anyway, what have I been up to? Short answer – I’ve been chasing dreams.
I am a big believer in pursuing your dreams. Going after whatever it is that you want. Whatever fills you with joy. You’ll often see me carrying a bag with the words “Dream Big” on it, it’s a reminder to me that there are endless possibilities, and the sky isn’t even the limit. By now I’m sure you would all know that writing is a major feature of my big dreams but sometimes I find myself being steered away from these audacious aspirations. There will be times that we are all pulled away from what we truly desire, being encouraged to walk a more common path or climb a different ladder. At this moment in time writing is a side hustle for me and although my deep desire is for it to become much more than this, the juggling between my passion and other paths can at times come to a crossroads. What I found special about the past few months was that despite the pressure to shelve my dreams I stayed true to what makes me personally happy, making decisions toward my individual goals. I have realised that you don’t need to apologise for dreaming big! You don’t have to apologise for who you are, your values or your wishes. Despite the sideways glances you may get as you keep your head in the clouds (thinking about big dreams and big ideas), know that you are actually doing it right and anything is in fact possible! Stay grounded in who you are and what you believe is right for you.
Aside from gaining more clarity on what my big dreams entail, the past months I also focused on my writing and honing my craft. I’ve been working with a couple of publishers to polish the stories I have written. It’s been an exciting process, editing, redrafting, and submitting proposals. I’m such a nerd when it comes to writing. I always want to learn more. I’ve also had the opportunity to network, getting out of my comfort zone and connecting with audiences both interstate and internationally. I’ve formed some beautiful connections (including with those I never thought I would be connecting with in my wildest dreams – see anything is possible – more on that to come in the near future) and I am looking forward to seeing where these relationships may go.
So that’s me for now….chasing my dreams and I truly hope you are chasing yours too!
