Change of Season

Summer, autumn, winter, spring, there is a beauty that each season brings. Experiencing the change of seasons and being able to witness the exquisite transformation that occurs at the cusp of these shifts, is spectacular.

Autumn and spring time have always been my favourite seasons, for this reason I could not live somewhere that was constantly warm or cold. I like these transitory seasons as they help us welcome in the icy chill of winter and the radiant warmth of summer. These two seasons are also the most charming. Spring with its flourishing flowers and autumn with its falling and tumbling red, rust and gold leaves, are perfect settings for creatives to be inspired.

In April, I was fortunate to encounter two change of seasons within the one month. At home, dazzling autumn began to set in and just as I was getting ready to bring out my coats and scarfs I was aboard a plane to Switzerland on work. The spring season in Zurich and Geneva is glorious. The air is crisp and the sun’s glowing rays illuminates the majestic cities. Travel in general invigorates me but on this particular trip it was the season that kept me refreshed through my brisk itinerary. I found myself waking up early to enjoy the blue skies and gentle winds. I sat and wrote each morning admiring the daffodils and tulips that were beginning to bloom. Spring is idyllic and you can not help but feel a sense of gratitude for its splendour. It makes everything feel new again.

On returning home, to rustling leaves, foggy mornings and cool chills, I was excited to be thrust into the vibrancy of autumn. Autumn is a very special season for my husband and I as we celebrate our wedding anniversary during the season. The elegance of autumn was woven into every part of our wedding ceremony and for me the season continues to bring truly spectacular moments. We celebrated my mum’s 60th birthday this autumn. Celebrating this momentous occasion with family was delightful as we sipped on schnapps, indulged in warm chocolate cake, nestled near the fire place and embarked on adventures on a snowy mountain retreat.

The change of seasons of autumn and spring also gave me the gentle jolt I needed to leap forward with my writing. Reflecting on the transition phase these seasons represent, I decided to transform myself, from staying in hibernation to continuing to delve outside my comfort zone. I resumed contributing to various online platforms and also applied for another opportunity with the industry recognised resource Creative Kids Tales (CKT). I was over the moon to be asked to join the team. To have others in the industry believe in me and encourage me on my writing journey has been heartening. I often find myself in disbelief, I cannot believe the amazing connections I have made and how far I have come from simply having an audacious dream, to working on my passion each day.

As the seasons change, so do I, learning, growing and blossoming. With each transition it is important to embrace the shifts that a change of season brings and the beauty it has in store.
