Work hard in silence…
The sound of silence is truly powerful. Having a moment to be still in the quiet can be a catalyst for great ideas and helps rejuvenate our mind and body. It is an energy force that once tapped into can unleash outstanding results. Silence is golden.
In an active household with a two-year-old daughter it can be difficult to find silence. I find twilight and dawn are when I am most productive. Gazing out my window at these times there is the presence of silence. The calm that sweeps the streets and each household enlivens my spirit and creativity. I find myself able to work diligently at these specific times, in the hush.
The past month I have been working in silence. Not only in the silent moments but without revealing too much to the outside. I have been crafting stories, engaging in opportunities to take Charlie on even more adventures, attending workshops to develop my writing skills and focusing inward to become more courageous in my pursuits and push past my comfort zone yet again. Working in silence has helped me to remain focused on my personal journey. I have been able to learn and grow by connecting purely with my own intentions.
My dad has always been an advocate for working in silence. He is not one to ferociously share with others his endeavours and daily tasks yet he is accomplished so much in his life. He has taught me the value of remaining humble and not having to announce or overshare my personal quests. After all, we are all on our own paths and have our own dreams and aspirations to realise. There is no need to fill the silence with loud noise in an attempt to draw attention. When you achieve in silence, your achievements radiate and you attract more goodwill and more success.
These days it can be challenging to remain silent with various social media channels encouraging us all to publicise what we do. We are compelled to share what food we are eating, what outfits we are wearing and our daily highlights. Through setting up de Rose-Ahern stories, I have had to embrace my inner Kim Kardashian and teach myself to take selfies and constantly communicate what I am doing with those lovely folk who actually are supporting me in fulfilling my dream. Although this is new to me, I do see the importance of not keeping too silent when you have a wonderful network of supporters. Yet, I hope those kind souls who are backing me, forgive me when I am acting in silence as this is my most natural state.
Silence is beautiful. It is noble and gracious. Embracing the quiet and working with tenacity and concentration can be fruitful and advantageous. This month, although I have remained silent, I feel I have come along way. I am still chipping at my dreams and have found myself working persistently. I cannot wait to see what is to come as a result of keeping mum. In the words of Frank Ocean, “Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise.”
